Data practices of the public board

Privacy Policy

This Policy explains what information gridlords.lol collects, why we use it, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

EFFECTIVE / August 28, 2026GRIDLORDS.LOL
01

Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies when you visit or interact with gridlords.lol, use its board and game features, purchase a sponsorship, or contact us (collectively, the “Service”). In this Policy, “Gridlords,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of gridlords.lol.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. Our Terms of Service contain additional rules governing your use of the Service.

02

Information we collect

Information you submit. We collect the domain, brand, logo reference, bid amount, and other details you provide when claiming or sponsoring part of the board. If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, attachments, and any information you choose to include.

Payment and transaction information. Stripe collects your payment details and may collect your name, email, billing address, and payment-method information. We receive transaction identifiers, payment status, amount, currency, limited customer details, and fraud-prevention signals. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Board and usage information. We collect a pseudonymous visitor identifier, game position, virtual balance, clicks, rolls, claims, bids, sponsorship activity, and related timestamps. Our servers and hosting providers may also receive standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages, referring page, and error or security logs.

03

Local storage and similar technologies

Gridlords stores a randomly generated visitor identifier in your browser’s local storage. This is necessary to recognize your browser and associate it with your board position, virtual balance, claims, bids, and sponsorship activity. Local storage is similar to a cookie but remains in your browser until you clear it.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. Stripe and other service providers may use cookies or similar technologies on the pages they operate, subject to their own privacy notices. You can clear local storage or cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may reset your visitor identity or prevent features from working as expected.

04

How we use information

We use information to:

  • operate the board and remember your game state;
  • create checkout sessions, confirm payments, and deliver sponsorships;
  • display eligible brand or sponsorship information publicly;
  • respond to support, privacy, and transaction inquiries;
  • maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug errors;
  • understand aggregate use and improve the Service; and
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
05

Legal bases for processing

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you, including providing the Service and fulfilling purchases; for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service; to comply with legal obligations; and, where applicable, with your consent.

You may withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

06

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Stripe, to process payments, prevent fraud, and manage transaction records;
  • hosting, database, infrastructure, and security providers, to operate and protect the Service;
  • professional advisers and authorities, when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, or protect rights and safety; and
  • a successor organization, as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the Service.

Submitted Content intended for a placement—such as a domain, brand, or logo reference—may be displayed publicly together with its board position or sponsorship amount. Do not submit personal information you do not want made public.

07

Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. The period depends on the type of information, our relationship with you, operational needs, dispute and fraud-prevention requirements, and applicable legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

Board records and public sponsorship content may remain visible while a placement is active and may be retained afterward as part of transaction, security, or audit history. Support messages are retained as needed to resolve the request and maintain appropriate records. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymize, or securely isolate it.

08

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and encrypted network transport where supported. Payments are handled through Stripe rather than directly through our servers.

No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You should not send sensitive payment-card details by email. If you believe your interaction with the Service is no longer secure, contact us promptly.

09

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; or to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to appeal our response or complain to a local data-protection authority.

To make a request, email [email protected] and describe the visitor identity, transaction, or email address connected to your request. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

10

International data transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for cross-border transfers. Privacy protections and government-access rules may differ between countries.

11

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases may be made only by someone who meets the eligibility requirements in our Terms. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12

Third-party services and links

The Service may link to websites, brands, or services operated by others. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy. In particular, Stripe independently processes payment and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy notice.

13

Policy updates

We may update this Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
